The Pregnancy
I was so excited when I found out I was pregnant! It was the opening day of the NFL season last year and the
weekend of Troy's birthday.  Troy had just settled down on the couch to watch some football and I went downstairs to
tell him the good news!  What a birthday present!  Needless to say, Troy didn't watch too much football that afternoon
as he was now distracted by the thought of being a first time dad.  It was easy for us imagine what the future held
and we instantly became anxious at the thought of raising a child.  I really enjoyed being pregnant and experienced
very little discomfort. I never experienced any morning sickness and really had a positive experience.  We decided to
find out the sex of our baby and were ecstatic to find out that we would be having a baby girl!  Throughout my whole
pregnancy I could hardly wait to see my baby and hold her in my arms.
The Labor
Well, my water broke at home on the evening of April 30th around 8:30 pm.  Immediately I began having
contractions.  I wish everybody could have seen Troy's face when I told him that I was in labor.  It was priceless.  Elle
was coming early!  Troy eagerly began packing the truck and making sure we had everything in order.  He called my
mother and said "Carolyn, it's time!".  We stayed at home for the next 1.5 hours and made our way to the hospital by
10:30pm.  I began pushing at 1:00 am and after six contractions and only 20 minutes of pushing we welcomed our
daughter into the world.   The delivery went perfectly!  (total elapsed time = 5 hours)

My mother and stepfather arrived just in time to help us wish Elle a Happy Birthday!  We were so glad they were able
to make it in time.  They drove 170 miles in the middle of the night to witness the birth of their first grandchild.
The Name
Troy and I decided on the name "Elle" well in advance of her actual birth.  We chose the name because we feel that
it's simple, yet classy.  In Hebrew the name means "Pledged to God" and in French it's loosely translated into "Pretty
Girl or Woman".  We didn't decide on the middle name of "Harper" until two days after Elle was born.  We picked the
name because it was unique and basically liked the way it sounds.
Our Baby
Elle is such a beautiful baby girl! She has brought nothing but joy into our lives since we brought her home. We are
very sleep deprived right now but she is totally worth it. My favorite times include watching Troy sing Elle to sleep and
talking to her when she's awake.  Elle is our little angel and we love her very much!
